Terms for the Starter Kit workbook
Your licence, updates, and buyer rights. The PolyForm licence is quoted unchanged below.
Last updated 13 October 2026
The short version
One purchase licenses the 30-Day Business Continuity Starter Kit for one buyer’s business, with no renewal or expiry. Spire Consulting Services retains the workbook’s copyright; your answers are yours.
- Use it on all your devices. Fill it in, print it, and save unlimited copies.
- Your name and email stay on copies. There is no activation or key to enter.
- Share review copies with people involved in your plan, not as free workbooks for their own businesses.
- Do not sell, publish, or distribute it beyond that review-copy permission.
- Updates to your purchased edition are included. Read the update terms.
- No refunds; help if you get stuck. Read the commitment.
- General business information, not legal, insurance, tax, or accounting advice.
What you bought
Each purchase licenses one buyer for one business. Spire Consulting Services retains copyright in the workbook, prompts, and code.
The name and email from Stripe appear on Sources and in the footer, and stay on saved, updated, and shared copies. There is no activation, key, or server check needed to open it; it keeps working without contacting us.
The PolyForm Internal Use License 1.0.0 is a standard plain-language licence, written by licensing lawyers and quoted unchanged below. It permits internal business use and changes or new works for that purpose, not distribution. Our prose explains it and adds review-copy permission and terms for updates, refunds, and buyer rights. These additions do not narrow the licence.
What counts as your own use
- All your browsers and devices, including replacements. No device limit.
- Work with partners, staff, and contractors inside your business.
- Unlimited saved copies and backups, including offsite copies.
- Your finished plan is unrestricted. Print it, give it to a backup person or executor, or use it for bank and insurance requests. Your answers belong to you; we never receive them. See workbook privacy.
Sharing a review copy
We add this permission to the licence: use Save a review copy to send a marked copy to anyone your continuity plan involves, inside or outside your business. Backup people, partners, advisers, family, and clients may read, edit, and save it to help with your plan.
Recipients need their own licence to build their own plan. Review copies retain your name and email and cannot update; they are not free copies of the product.
What you may not do
- Sell, rent, sublicense, give away, or bundle the workbook with something you sell.
- Publish or distribute it on a site, shared drive, or group beyond the review-copy permission.
- Reuse its prompts, questions, scoring, or text in your own product, course, template, or client deliverable.
- Use any part as machine-learning training data.
- Remove or alter copyright, licence links, or identification of the workbook’s source.
You may advise individual clients using the workbook to build plans with them. You may not hand them the workbook file, except as an allowed review copy, or remake it as your own worksheet.
Updates
Updates to the edition you bought are included at no further cost while we publish them, whether fixes, improvements, or new prompts. There is no promised schedule or number of releases, and no time limit on your entitlement. The Starter Kit page shows the current release; the workbook’s Sources page identifies your file.
Your copy, answers, and existing rights remain yours: nothing expires or is withdrawn.
Update now works in the delivered file and owner saves, not review copies. It combines the current workbook with your browser’s answers into a new file, without writing to, moving, or deleting the old one.
If publication or updates stop, your copy still opens and works without this site.
Refunds
We can’t give refunds, and we’re not going to leave you stuck either. If something technical stops you, or you get stuck on one of the questions, write to us and we will help you through it. The position is stated in full, with the reasoning, under Can I get a refund?, and in the same words on the Starter Kit page before you pay.
What the workbook is not
This is general business information, not legal, insurance, tax, or accounting advice. Buying it creates no advisory relationship. It plans for unexpected absence, not succession or estates.
You are responsible for your plan’s accuracy, fit, and compliance with your obligations. Have relevant parts reviewed by a professional who knows your situation.
No warranty, and the limit on what we owe
The license says this in one sentence, and it governs: As far as the law allows, the software comes as is, without any warranty or condition, and the licensor will not be liable to you for any damages arising out of these terms or the use or nature of the software, under any kind of legal claim.
It is sold as is, without promises that it is fault-free, fits a particular business, or works on future browsers. Where law does not allow full exclusion of liability, our total liability for the workbook is limited to what you paid.
Nothing here removes a right you have that cannot be removed by agreement where you live.
Who you bought from
Your licence is from Spire Consulting Services, the publisher. Stripe takes payment on its own page; its receipt records that payment. These terms cover the workbook.
Governing law
Spire Consulting Services is in Oregon, in the United States. These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Oregon, without regard to its conflict of laws rules, and the state and federal courts sitting in Oregon are where a dispute about them is heard.
That does not take away a protection you have at home. If the consumer law where you live gives you rights these terms cannot override, or a court you can reach more easily, it wins.
Changes to these terms
The terms published when you bought your copy apply to it. Revisions are dated and apply only to later purchases; we never narrow a licence you already hold.

PolyForm requires this quote to retain its wording, name, and address. Here software means the Starter Kit workbook, prompts, and code.
PolyForm Internal Use License 1.0.0
polyformproject.org/licenses/internal-use/1.0.0
Acceptance
In order to get any license under these terms, you must agree to them as both strict obligations and conditions to all your licenses.
Copyright License
The licensor grants you a copyright license for the software to do everything you might do with the software that would otherwise infringe the licensor's copyright in it for any permitted purpose. However, you may only make changes or new works based on the software according to Changes and New Works License, and you may not distribute the software.
Changes and New Works License
The licensor grants you an additional copyright license to make changes and new works based on the software for any permitted purpose.
Patent License
The licensor grants you a patent license for the software that covers patent claims the licensor can license, or becomes able to license, that you would infringe by using the software.
Fair Use
You may have "fair use" rights for the software under the law. These terms do not limit them.
Internal Business Use
Use of the software for the internal business operations of you and your company is use for a permitted purpose.
No Other Rights
These terms do not allow you to sublicense or transfer any of your licenses to anyone else, or prevent the licensor from granting licenses to anyone else. These terms do not imply any other licenses.
Patent Defense
If you make any written claim that the software infringes or contributes to infringement of any patent, your patent license for the software granted under these terms ends immediately. If your company makes such a claim, your patent license ends immediately for work on behalf of your company.
Violations
The first time you are notified in writing that you have violated any of these terms, or done anything with the software not covered by your licenses, your licenses can nonetheless continue if you come into full compliance with these terms, and take practical steps to correct past violations, within 32 days of receiving notice. Otherwise, all your licenses end immediately.
No Liability
As far as the law allows, the software comes as is, without any warranty or condition, and the licensor will not be liable to you for any damages arising out of these terms or the use or nature of the software, under any kind of legal claim.
Definitions

You refers to the individual or entity agreeing to these terms.
Your company is any legal entity, sole proprietorship, or other kind of organization that you work for, plus all organizations that have control over, are under the control of, or are under common control with that organization. Your licenses are all the licenses granted to you for the software under these terms.
Use means anything you do with the software requiring one of your licenses.
